If this doesn't work out you might also try talking to the SXSW volunteer coordinator. They have a lot of positions such as working the panelist green rooms or working with the press or the people in the trade show. You can earn perks depending on the amount of time you spend volunteering. The perks are typically geared more toward people wanting SXSW Music badges but you could probably convince them to give you an interactive badge instead.
